WeWork Holyoke will open it's doors to LIVE Stand Up Comedy on January 19th! The Pacific Northwest unique mix of clever and quirky is an amazing breeding ground for comedy. Comedians from the area tend to stand out from the crowd, and some of our greatest entertainers have come from this area.
The Do What You Love Comedy Series seeks out the next generation of Stand Up stars. Every month, this independent comedy showcase highlights four of the most accomplished local and nationally acclaimed comedians as featured by Seattle Comedy Competition, Punchline, Viceland, Comedy Central and more.
WeWork Holyoke
January 19th
5:30pm Doors/Libations
6:15pm - 8:00pm Showcase
Featured comedians include:
Nigel Larson (Seattle International Comedy Competition )
David Klein (Comedy Store )
Alyssa Yeoman (Seattle International Comedy Competition)
Jamal Harrington (Seattle International Comedy Competition, KZOK)
Nigel takes the stage with a jovial demeanor and instant likability. Named one of the "top 5 funniest comics in Rochester under 30" and "the face of Rochester comedy" in 2010, Nigel plays on his innocent appearance to establish a rapport with the audience before revealing that beneath his boyish good looks lies a cuttingly clever wit. His act is largely autobiographical, turning a lifetime of failure into consistent on-stage success with honest stories and sophisticated material. His act is powerful enough for the drunk, indifferent crowds of a bar, yet intellectually satiating for the audiences of a college. Nigel has had the pleasure of opening for such national acts as Tom Rhodes, Jimmy Dore, Kyle Cease, Ty Barnett, Rebecca Cory, Jim Florentine, Jimmy Shubert, Mike E. Winfield, Dwight Slade and Auggie Smith.
David Klein is a standup comic, screenwriter, and show producer who performs throughout the U.S. and Mexico. He's shared the stage with Bon Iver, Mo Mandel, and (Seattle badass) Emmett Montgomery. He enjoys making people laugh and the early works of Mel Gibson. David was raised in the warm, protein powder-flavored city of San Diego, where he occassionally returns to perform at the Comedy Store and relive the suburban horrors of his youth.
Alyssa Yeoman is an Alaskan turned Seattle-based comedian. Seattle swallowed her whole as Alyssa currently lives and works in the heart of the city.
When she’s not making jokes in basements Alyssa is hanging out with a dog named Wolfgang. Alyssa is the creator of the local sci-fi comedy talk show Alyssa Explains It All and co-producer of Seattle’s only no-prepared material mic Naked Brunch. Alyssa has performed on Portland’s Minority Retort, Midnight Mass and Seattle’s HIGHlarious Festival.

Before telling jokes on stage, Jamal Harrington produced stand up comedy shows off the stage in New York City. While booking and watching many novice and nationally touring acts perform for six years in various comedy clubs, Harrington decided to take the plunge into comedy after moving to Seattle, Wa. There he began performing at open mics throughout the city where he learned to find his comedic voice and manufacture an act. In 2013 Harrington placed 3rd in the “Make Danny Laugh” comedy competition where Danny Bonaduce was one of the judges at The Parlor in Bellevue, Wa. Afterwards he appeared as a guest on Seattle’s KZOK “The Danny Bonaduce & Sarah Morning Show”.
While performing Harrington continues to produce stand up comedy shows throughout the Pacific Northwest. He currently produces the JAMCO. Comedy Series at the Renton Civic Theatre in Renton, Wa.
